Kjære ,

You have ordered a beautiful runner from Bomat Rug Creations for your client and your carpet layer is about to install it.

The flatweave Clarence is an excellent quality made of 75% New Zealand wool and 25% nylon. It is very resistant over the time and have a beautiful look. I would like to share with you some tips for a great installation and nice finish.

There are different kind of stairs: straight or with a turn. You might want to install the same quality wall to wall on some "repos", in corridors, or in bedrooms.

A runner can completly change an entrance in a home, it can be a real "statement". Have a look at some selected exemples below. Bomat Rug Creation can create your design and combine colours. This will become a creation that only you will be able to propose to your client.

Klem,
When the staircase is straight you don’t need to cut the runner and can therefore install it in one roll. You can use rods to hold the carpet, it is your client choice.
  • The runner is installed on the top of an underlay, which will both increase durability and reduce noise
  • The runner is fixed by some “grippers” , you can use as well Velcro grippers (with no pins).

When the staircase has a turn, it can require to cut the runner stair by stair and sometimes it needs to be sewn in some places. The best craftsmen deliver the finest results!

  1. Install tackless strip
Tackless strip creates a framework over which carpeting is stretched and held in position. When laying out the strip, make sure the pins face the adjacent wall or opening. Position 1cm from the wall and nail in place (see Illustration below). For concrete floors, use adhesive.

  1. Install carpet padding
Lay the carpet padding within the framework and cut it to size with a utility knife. Make sure the side with the slick membrane faces up and that the padding does not overlap the tackless strip (see Illustration below). Nail or staple the carpet padding in place, paying special attention to seam lines and edges. If the floor is concrete, roll back one section of padding at a time and spread pad adhesive. Lay the carpet padding back in place.

3. Finish edges
A way to finish an edge is to fold the carpeting under itself (see Illustration below). If you choose to fold the carpeting, be sure to stop the carpet padding short.
You can use a shoe holding to hide the cut edge of the rug. See below
